2004 ALL STATE FOOTBALL TEAM

This year's ALL STATE FOOTBALL TEAM was a real tough one. It can all be summed up in one word - deep. This year had some of the most talented players we have seen come and play in the Silver State in a long time. The South was loaded with top talent, led by one of the nation's top players Bishop Gorman Line Backer Ryan Reynolds. The North was also really strong this year, lead by DL Joe Sutter of Bishop Manogue. Here is the list of the top players in the State from All 4 classifications for 2004

The ALL STATE Team is compiled from the Top players in all classifications 1 A, 2 A, 3 A and 4 A. NSN Staff developed this year's list after looking at all of the stats and information from the top players in the State of Nevada.

1 st Team ALL STATE

QB - Brandon Godfrey - Eldorado - 6'0 QB - Led the South in passing in 2004.

RB - Eric Jordan - Las Vegas - 5'10 JR - led the South in rushing with 2,772 yards and 37 touchdowns. Ran for 3 touchdowns in the State Semi Final win at Reed.

RB - Isaac Porter - HUG - 5'10 190 pounds - ran for 2044 yards on 182 carries, scored 29 touchdowns. Explosive back that was dynamite each week.

RB - Ryan Lammle - REED - 5'8 180 pounds - 228 carries for 1796 yards and 23 touchdowns. Led Reed to the State Semi Final game before being injured in the contest against Las Vegas.

TE - Joe Pugh - Manogue - 6'1 200 pounds. Great hands, expected to be a major D1 recruit.

WR - Davell Jackson - Eldorado - 6'0 JR - caught balls for 1,158 yards. Speed to get deep and has great body control in traffic.

WR - Rashaun Grier - Mojave - 6'0 190 pounds 57 grabs for 1383 yards 18 touchdowns. Ran 2 back as a returner.

OL - Arturo Rodriguez - Las Vegas - 6'5 290 pounds. Massive tackle that led the Cats ground attack. High recruit for West Coast D1 schools.

OL - Perry Eppinger - Cheyenne - 6'2 326 pounds. Opened holes for Torrie Coleman all season long leading Cheyenne to the Sunset title game. High D 1 recruit on offense and defensive line.

OL - Cameron Busby - Las Vegas - 6'4 303 pounds. Another explosive year after playing center in past seasons.

OL - Bryce Garcia - Cimarron - 6'3 282 pounds - also played well on the defensive line. Smaller D1 school recruit.

OL - Mark Clements - McQueen - 6'5 305 pounds - led the Lancer rushing game that lost to Palo Verde in the State Semi Final.

k - Zach Davis - Moapa Valley - hit long distance kicks of over 50 yards this season. Was also a leading running back for the Pirates.

Defense

DL - Joe Sutter - Manogue - 6'7 315 - hurt late in the season. Has committed to play for DUKE.

DL - Tyson Estes - Douglas - 6'2 230 - Selected as the lineman of the year in the North.

DL - Mitch Solano - McQueen - 6'4 230 pounds - selected as the North's top Defensive Player.

DL - Steven Oscar - McQueen - 6'2 254 pounds - had 133 tackles in 2 seasons.

LB - Ryan Reynolds - Gorman - 6'2 220 pounds - 94 tackles including 12 for loss - MVP for the South defensive players.

LB - Josh Mauga - Fallon - 6'1 215 pounds - was named as the Sierra League MVP.

LB - Marcus Cotton - Valley - 6'1 231 pounds - had 108 tackles with 4 for loss and 5 interceptions.

DB - Jarrell Harrison - Palo Verde - 6'1 200 pounds - was a ALL around performer for the State Champs as QB, Punter and DB for the Panthers.

DB - Brett Johnson - Green Valley - 6'1 188 pounds. Hard hitter who was the leader in the Sunset of all defensive backs.

DB - Mike Kannelis - Spanish Springs - 5'11 185 pounds. Quick to the football made him an impact player on a poor team this season.

DB - Jeromi Jones - Desert Pines - 6'0 180 - a monster hitter who made highlites each Friday night with jarring hits.

Punter - Ben Jaekel - Bonanza - Booming leg that also kicked field goals for the Bengals.

Second Team

QB - Andrew Hatch - Cimarron - 1587 yards 18 touchdowns.

RB - Torrie Coleman - Cheyenne - 6'2 225 pounds - 1,800 yards rushing and was the load that led the Shields this season.

RB - Marc Evans - Palo Verde - 5'10 170 pounds - shifty running back that broke loose alot for the Panthers. Ran for 1411 yards on 197 carries with 21 touchdown, had 4 receiving and 2 kickoff return touchdowns as well.

RB - DeAngelo Jones - Foothill - JR Running Back had over 2,000 yards rushing this season.

TE - James Cook - Cimarron - 20 grabs for 610 yards this season.

WR - Charles Jackson - Valley - 12 touchdowns

WR - Jaimie Maehler - Truckee - 6'4 190 pounds - 12 touchdowns

OL - Randall Crews - Las Vegas

OL - Bryan Thornton - Palo Verde

OL - Shaun Barrick - Foothill

OL - Kyle Harpin - Palo Verde

Second Team

DL- Chris Lamping - Moapa Valley - 6'3 230 pounds. Named 3A lineman of the year

DL - Antonio Hartwell - Foothill - 6'1 270 pounds

DL - Perry Epinger -Cheyenne

DL - Zach Mills - Fallon - 6'3 200 pounds

LB - Sam King - Palo Verde - 6'0 215 pounds 92 tackles and 9 sacks.

LB - Garret Chapel - Sierra Vista - 5'11 210 pounds.

LB - Arthur Mayville - Foothill

DB - Duffy Otteson - Tonopah - 5'10 175 pounds

DB - Dexter Rackley - HUG - 5'10 175 pounds

DB - Nick Magnuson - Manogue - 6'1 180 pounds

DB - Jarell Holman - Cheyenne - 5'10 175 pounds

Coach of the Year - Jim Massey - Valley

Offensive Player of the Year - Eric Jordan - Las Vegas.

Defensive Player of the Year - Ryan Reynolds - Bishop Gorman

Surpise Player of the Year - Torrie Coleman - Cheyenne

Game of the Year - Cheyenne vs Palo Verde - regular season final.

Play of the Year - Tipped pass and grab for the long distance touchdown when Sierra Vista caught a deflected pass and went the distance for the winning touchdown against Valley.

North team of the year - Truckee

South team of the year - Palo Verde
